Lower School Leadership
Lower School Leadership
Established in 2017, the Lower School Student Leadership Team (SLT for short!) consists of 8-12 fourth and fifth grade students and mentor teachers. Students are nominated for admittance by their teachers and must display exemplary character traits to be considered. The goals of the Lower School Student Leadership Team are to complete service projects that benefit the school and the surrounding community, fundraise to bring new and exciting experiences to the elementary, and drive the character education program by providing fun and engaging ways to learn about the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. In past years, students on the SLT have raised funds to purchase a Buddy Bench for recess, classroom supplies for a school that was heavily impacted by a hurricane, and has led successful Dimes for Diapers campaigns to provide diapers to the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM). Additionally, the SLT has supplied candy grams to students participating in state testing and has hosted and volunteered at several successful family events, such as mother and son dances and Santa pancake breakfasts. SLT students also plan and host character education assemblies.
