High School: Technology
Oakstone Academy High School provides every student with a school-issued Chromebook, ensuring access to a dynamic, 21st-century learning environment both in the classroom and at home. These devices serve as an essential academic tool, empowering students to engage in coursework, conduct research, collaborate with peers, and submit assignments efficiently. By integrating technology into daily instruction, Oakstone Academy High School equips students with the digital literacy and organizational skills necessary to meet the demands of college-level work and beyond.
All Chromebooks are supported by Google Workspace for Education, allowing students to seamlessly communicate with teachers, access course materials, and manage their academic responsibilities in a centralized platform. Equally important is our commitment to student safety in digital spaces. Oakstone Academy High School utilizes Securly, an educational technology platform that provides comprehensive web filtering and monitoring both on campus and off. This ensures that students are protected from inappropriate content while promoting responsible and productive use of technology wherever their learning takes place.
Every classroom at Oakstone Academy High School is also equipped with Promethean ActivPanel smart boards, enhancing instruction through interactive, technology-rich experiences. These advanced displays increase student engagement by allowing for dynamic, hands-on participation and real-time collaboration among multiple users. ActivPanels seamlessly integrate with digital tools and instructional platforms, helping to improve content retention and deepen understanding. Their intuitive design supports a wide range of learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic—while also streamlining lesson planning and delivery for teachers, creating a more efficient and impactful classroom experience.
In addition to its robust technology integration, Oakstone Academy High School offers a diverse selection of hands-on, career-focused technology courses designed to inspire creativity, innovation, and real-world skill development. Each course is thoughtfully structured into four progressive sections, allowing students to build foundational knowledge before advancing into more complex, specialized applications. This tiered approach ensures that students at all experience levels can enter the program and continue to grow their skills over time.
Graphic Design
Students explore the principles of visual communication, beginning with design fundamentals such as color theory, typography, and layout. As they progress through the four sections, students move into advanced digital illustration, branding, and portfolio development, ultimately producing professional-quality work that reflects both creativity and technical precision.
3D Engineering (3D Printing & Design)
This course introduces students to 3D modeling and engineering design. In the initial section, students learn basic modeling concepts and software navigation. As they advance, they engage in complex design challenges, prototyping, and real-world problem-solving using 3D printers. By the final section, students are capable of independently designing and producing sophisticated, functional objects.
Animation
Students begin with the foundations of animation, including timing, motion, and storyboarding. As they move through each section, they develop skills in character design, digital animation software, and storytelling techniques. Advanced students create polished animated projects, short films, or multimedia presentations that demonstrate both technical expertise and creative vision.
Audio Engineering
This course starts with the basics of sound, recording techniques, and equipment use. As students progress through the four sections, they explore editing, mixing, and mastering audio using professional software. Advanced students produce high-quality audio projects, such as podcasts, music tracks, or sound design for video, gaining skills applicable to a variety of media industries.
Video Production
This course immerses students in the full creative and technical process of video production. Students begin by learning the fundamentals of storytelling, scriptwriting, and shot composition. As they progress, they gain hands-on experience with professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment, as well as industry-standard editing software. Through the four sections, students develop skills in directing, filming, editing, and post-production, including color correction and sound design. Advanced students produce high-quality video projects such as short films, documentaries, promotional content, and broadcast-style productions, preparing them for college programs and careers in film, media, and digital content creation.
And More
Oakstone Academy High School continues to expand its technology offerings to reflect emerging fields and student interests. Additional courses follow a similar four-section progression, allowing students to deepen their knowledge in areas such as coding, multimedia production, and other innovative disciplines.
Through this structured yet flexible approach, students are able to enter at their current skill level and advance with confidence, gaining both depth and breadth of experience. These programs not only prepare students for college-level coursework but also provide valuable, real-world skills that translate directly into future academic and career opportunities.
