High School: Curriculum

High School: Curriculum
Oakstone Academy High School is a dynamic learning environment grounded in high expectations and a strong commitment to excellence. Our comprehensive core curriculum—including English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, and the Arts—is taught by licensed educators who are highly qualified in their respective fields through the Ohio Department of Education. At Oakstone, we are dedicated to providing a rigorous, well-rounded education that empowers every student to reach their fullest potential.
Creating your own Path:
Students have the opportunity to tailor their academic experience through a variety of course offerings, including standard, honors, and college-level classes through Ohio’s College Credit Plus Program. This flexibility allows students to challenge themselves, explore their interests, and begin earning college credit while still in high school.
Building Leaders:
Beyond academics, Oakstone fosters personal growth and leadership, helping students discover their unique place in an ever-changing world and encouraging meaningful engagement within their communities.
Measuring Success:
Student progress is evaluated through a comprehensive and integrated assessment approach. In addition to traditional tests, students demonstrate learning through performance tasks, scoring rubrics, portfolios, curriculum-based measures, state assessments, off-year achievement tests, and extended written responses. This well-rounded system ensures that each student’s strengths and growth are accurately reflected. Students also participate in ACT and SAT preparation courses and exams, equipping them with the tools to explore career pathways and succeed in the college admissions process.
Reaching Each Student:
Instruction at Oakstone is guided by state standards, instructional goals, and ongoing analysis of individual student progress. Our classrooms are built on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), ensuring accessibility and flexibility for a diverse range of learners. Through UDL, students engage with content presented in multiple ways, express their understanding through various formats, and access diverse pathways for meaningful participation. This inclusive approach supports all learners in achieving high academic standards while fostering independence and confidence.
College Opportunities:
At Oakstone, students in grades 7–12 have the opportunity to take college-level courses through dual-enrollment. These courses fulfill high school graduation requirements while allowing students to earn transferable college credit through partnerships with several Ohio colleges and universities.
The program is designed to enhance career readiness and postsecondary success. Many seniors graduate with the equivalent of a year or more of college credit already completed.
Oakstone Academy offers 25+ college course on-site. All courses are taught by Oakstone Academy teachers who are approved adjunct professors through our partnered institutions.
A wide range of courses is available to college-ready students at no cost through Ohio’ College Credit Plus or at minimal cost through private-pay options.
Celebrating Character:
At Oakstone, achievement is celebrated not only through academic milestones, but also through personal accomplishments—overcoming challenges, demonstrating leadership, showing kindness, and growing in confidence. This balanced approach reinforces the idea that success is multifaceted and that character matters just as much as achievement.
By combining high academic standards with a deep commitment to personal development, Oakstone Academy High School creates an environment where students are inspired to grow into capable, confident, and compassionate individuals—ready to succeed in college, careers, and life.
