Our Community: Fine Arts

Oakstone Academy is a PreK–12 community that places a strong emphasis on Fine Arts as an essential part of educating the whole child. From our youngest learners through high school seniors, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, express themselves, and think beyond traditional boundaries. At Oakstone, the arts are not viewed as an “extra,” but as a vital component of a well-rounded education—one that supports academic growth, critical thinking, and personal development.

From the Start:

Beginning in early childhood and continuing through elementary school, students are introduced to art and music as part of their core learning experience. These early opportunities allow children to experiment with materials, explore imagination, and build confidence in self-expression. As students progress into middle school and high school, the Fine Arts program expands significantly, offering a wide variety of courses that meet students where they are—whether they are advanced artists or just beginning to discover their creative voice.

Diverse Options & Opportunities:

Oakstone offers an extensive range of visual arts classes designed to provide multiple avenues for creativity and expression. Courses include, but are not limited to, figure drawing, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, illustration, digital mixed media, pen and ink, perspective drawing, and painting. Through these diverse offerings, students are exposed to a wide array of artistic techniques and materials, learning not only how to create, but how to think critically about the creative process. Students are encouraged to think “outside the box,” take risks, and develop their own unique artistic style.

Embracing Creativity:

The Fine Arts program at Oakstone goes beyond skill development—it teaches essential life skills such as patience, problem-solving, planning, and attention to detail. Students learn how to approach challenges creatively, refine their work through practice, and express ideas in meaningful ways. These experiences are especially valuable for visual and hands-on learners, providing alternative pathways for understanding and engagement that complement traditional academic instruction.

In addition, Oakstone intentionally connects the arts to real-world applications and future career opportunities. Students explore how artistic skills translate into a variety of fields, including fashion design, architecture, automotive design, video game and character design, illustration, and advertising. By making these connections, students gain a deeper appreciation for the relevance of the arts and how creativity plays a role in many professional pathways.

Finding Passions:

Supported by a school culture that deeply values and prioritizes the arts, Oakstone Academy provides students with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to grow as creative thinkers and expressive individuals. Students are empowered to discover their passions, develop their talents, and prepare for success in an ever-evolving world.
