Student Leadership Team: Elementary School
The Oakstone Academy Elementary School Student Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of 8–12 fourth and fifth grade students, along with dedicated mentor teachers. Students are nominated by their teachers based on their outstanding character and leadership potential, reflecting qualities such as responsibility, kindness, and respect.
Our Mission:
The mission of the SLT is to serve both the school and the broader community through meaningful service, thoughtful fundraising, and a commitment to promoting character education. Members take an active role in bringing engaging and memorable experiences to Oakstone Academy Elementary School, while also helping to lead and model the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
SLT Projects:
Over the years, SLT students have made a lasting impact through a variety of initiatives. They have raised funds to purchase a Buddy Bench for the playground, supported classrooms affected by natural disasters, and organized successful “Dimes for Diapers” campaigns benefiting the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM). In addition, SLT members have created and distributed candy grams to encourage students during state testing, and have helped plan and host beloved family events such as Mother and Son Dances and Santa Pancake Breakfasts.
Shaping Futures:
Beyond service and fundraising, SLT students also play an important role in shaping school culture by planning and leading character education assemblies. Through these efforts, they develop leadership skills, build confidence, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of their peers and their community.
