Academic & Service Clubs
NHS
Oakstone Academy is a charter member of the National Honor Society which aims to recognize those students who exhibit the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. Students are eligible their Junior year to apply for consideration into the National Honor Society.
KEY CLUB
The Oakstone chapter of Key Club is an organization focused on service to the community near and abroad. This student-led organization participates in service projects from food and clothing drives, gift drives at the holidays, local park clean up, and fundraising for other organizations. Students can participate as members or be elected as officers giving the chance to lead others to success.
IN THE KNOW
Oakstone’s In The Know team is an academic quiz bowl team for students in grades 9-12. Students participate in practice weekly and work to compete in WOSU’s In The Know tournament as well as locally sponsored National Academic Quiz Team events.
Social Clubs
Oakstone has an important goal of making sure students are offered opportunities to participate in after school clubs. These clubs are normally offered once a week for 5 or 6 sessions, twice a year. This is a perfect time for the students to get to join their friends with common interests in structured activities. We usually offer, but are not limited to the following clubs: Unplugged gaming, Swim, Art, Grilling/cooking, Chess, Lego, and Sewing.
We encourage students to get out of their “bubble” and off their technology once in a while. The social aspect, learning how to win, lose, be creative, and learn a new skill are just a few benefits they get from these clubs.
